No. At this time The A21 Campaign only takes casework in Europe. We have found an overwhelming need in Europe for anti-human trafficking initiatives, as the magnitude of the problem far outweighs the capacity of the organizations that are working to address it. Therefore, The A21 Campaign has stepped up to fill a significant gap in the global response to human trafficking by addressing this issue in Europe first. To date, we are the only shelter in Northern Greece with a focus on victims of trafficking.
We also support other organizations who work tirelessly to address the needs of victims of trafficking in other regions of the world, such as Asia and the USA. Whilst much more must be done for anti-trafficking initiatives to even compare to the level of trafficking currently occurring across the globe, by working together, we are able to multiply our efforts and make a more significant impact.
The A21 Campaign works closely with a wide range of partners throughout Europe, Australia, and the USA. It is only through our relationships with other NGO's and government entities that we are able to assist victims. We collaborate with our partners in instances of police investigation, legal advice, and representation, repatriation, best practice development, victim connection, identification, and connecting or providing victims with the most appropriate care. For more information, or to request a partnership between your organization and The A21 Campaign, please contact our office.
The A21 Campaign does everything we can to equip the survivors of human trafficking with options, knowledge, and skills to assist them in moving forward. We provide assistance in repatriation, that is, moving the survivor back to their country of origin, or to another nation of their choice. We also provide employment assistance. We also provide access to vocational training, catch-up primary and secondary education, psychological care, and assistance stabilizing and dealing with the effects of their experiences.
The A21 Campaign currently has three full-time and two part-time/contract staff members, as well as a team of more than 45 volunteers passionately dedicated to seeing the injustice of human trafficking abolished in the 21st century! Our Operational Manager, Administrative Assistant, and Shelter Manger are our full time staff members, whilst our Marketing Manager and Information Technology Manager are employed part time/contract. We also have a Legal Consultant who is a contracted member of staff who oversees legal matters in Greece.
Our team of volunteers, split across Australia, Greece, USA, and other East European nations, work tirelessly to support the work of The A21 Campaign in combating human trafficking. With a broad range of skills, our volunteers have come to us from backgrounds in clinical psychology, Greek law, civil law, Chief Executive Officer leadership, video editing, graphic art, and various other backgrounds that have helped increase our effectiveness. Many would be hard pressed to tell the difference between one of our staff members and one of our volunteers. We might be a little biased, but we have the best team on the planet!
In addition, The A21 Campaign is supported by many individuals, churches, companies, schools, universities, colleges, and clubs around the world who are doing what they can to combat human trafficking. This includes raising awareness in their local community, organizing fundraisers such as marathons and a battle of the bands, donating a portion of sales revenues, donating items for our crisis shelter, and starting awareness groups on school and university campuses. For more information please visit the 21 Things You Can Do and A21 Heroes pages.
Getting Involved
Individuals
There are many ways to fight the injustice of human trafficking, but when we link arms and share our resources, our efforts are greatly multiplied. This is not a battle meant for one person to fight alone, but as many individuals and organizations around the world coming together as ONE, we are able to join forces and take a stand for justice—together we can make a difference. Our website is full of resources that will equip you to raise your hand and become that "someone" willing to do "something" to help abolish injustice in the 21st Century.
In addition, you can make a donation to help cover the financial costs of rehabilitation for victims of human trafficking. You can donate via the Donations page or Facebook Cause.
Yes! There are opportunities to get involved with The A21 Campaign in Greece. We have a limited number of spaces available for our highly sought after internship program. For more information, please visit the Opportunities page or contact us.
The A21 Campaign is committed to supporting you and your fundraising/awareness event. We believe in the ability of individuals and community groups to make a significant difference! Whist we do not assist in planning events, and are unable to advertise events for you, we will support you and offer any resources and information we can to equip you. In fact, you can sign up to be an A21 abolitionist by clicking here, and you will have the opportunity to download an events manual and information on how you can start an abolition group. Be sure to take photos of your event or fundraiser and let us know how it went! We are grateful for your support and passion to see human trafficking abolished, and we may wish to feature you on the A21 Heroes page.
Whilst we appreciate your desire to see the work of The A21 Campaign firsthand, we do not allow people to visit the shelter for a number of reasons. Firstly, we value the confidentiality and privacy of the survivors in our shelter. Secondly, the survivors in our shelter are often suffering from trauma related to psychological and emotional issues, and are not in a position to cope with visitors. Thirdly, due to the criminal nature of human trafficking, we do not disclose the location of our shelter. However there are many other ways to get involved with all that we are doing in our shelter. Please read the next two questions for ideas.
Yes! We would love for you to write a letter or card to the girls in our shelter. Address your letter along the lines of "Dear Beautiful" or "Lovely," and write an encouraging note that places value and worth upon the girls. In the contents of your letter, be sure to refrain from stating your own beliefs or talking too much about your job or lifestyle, as these girls have all come from differing backgrounds and deserve to be respected and not made to feel bad about their situations. Obviously, they have been through a lot, and we ask that in your letters you do not claim to understand their situations or try to relate to what they have been through.
End your letter by signing with your first name only, and do not include any personal details. These letters are for the purpose of encouragement and support.
The letters can be mailed to the Greek office.
Yes! You or your company are more than welcome to send gifts to the women and girls in our shelter. When donating materials to the shelter, we ask that you cover the shipping and import expenses that are associated with tangible donations. We also ask that you note the following when sending gifts:

Partnership
The A21 Campaign is a non-profit, non-governmental organization. Our primary source of funding comes from the generosity of businesses, community organizations, churches, and individuals from around the world who have a passion to fight the atrocity of human trafficking.
Money donated to The A21 Campaign provides crucial funds for addressing the issue of human trafficking in Europe. Specifically, donations fund the work of the Project Center, Crisis Care Shelter, and cover the costs of assisting and rehabilitating survivors, and allows us to raise awareness around the world.
The A21 Project Center requires funds to cover outreaches to brothels and at risk communities as well as hygiene and support packs to detained trafficked victims. It also funds A21's ability to assist victims through relationships with border control officials, hospitals, and detention centers, in order to assist in cases of suspected trafficking. We are able to participate in projects such as handing out hundreds of hygiene and support packs to prisoners, assisting with legal council, and installing new air conditioning units at a detention center where many prostitutes and unidentified trafficking victims are held. In addition, The Project Center distributes awareness raising posters and brochures.
The Crisis Care Shelter provides basic essentials such as clothes, toothbrushes, beds, and other necessary items alongside medical care, psychological assessment, recreational activities, life guidance/counselling, legal assistance, and repatriation assistance for victims of human trafficking.
The A21 Offices in Australia and the USA utilize funds in order to print brochures, maintain the website, coordinate the A21 abolition program, and participate in events to raise awareness. The vast majority of our staff are volunteers, and so administrative costs are kept to a minimum.
Every person currently trapped in a trafficked situation should have a way out, and every trafficker should be convicted. With existing resources, The A21 Campaign can only assist a fraction of the cases needing assistance. Our vision is to provide assistance to every person who indicates a desire for help. Our long-term goal is to establish shelters in major trafficking countries throughout Europe. It is only by your support that this goal can become a reality.

While the costs of rehabilitation for one rescued girl varies, the average cost per girl each day is US$120.
